Traffic Analyst/Reconstructionist Team


Brandon Police Service has a Traffic Analyst/Reconstruction Team which is used to analyze the scene of a serious or fatal vehicle collision in order to determine the cause and factors related to the collision.

The collision team can use roadway evidence as well as vehicle damage evidence in order to determine speed, environment, and other contributing factors in a collision. The team uses a “total station” which is a device that is used to get detailed measurements which are then downloaded onto a computer program to create 2D or 3D drawing of a collision and scene. The team can then use all the evidence they collected together in order to determine the events leading up to and involving the collision.
