By-Law Enforcement

The By-Law Enforcement unit has three areas of responsibility, these include:
  • Animal Control: This area is responsible for the enforcement of the City of Brandon By-laws pertaining to the control of domesticated and wild animals residing within the City boundaries.
  • Process Service: This area deals with the service of court related documents to the citizens of Brandon generated within the Police Service as well as those from other agencies.
  • By-law Enforcement: This area is responsible for the investigation and enforcement of the remainder of the City of Brandon by-laws including parking enforcement.

Did you know?

School Parking Zones: These zones are monitored during the school year to ensure the safety of students, and the general public. Drivers are encouraged to be familiar with parking offences that may occur in a school zone and how to park safely.

Some of these offences are:

  • bus loading zones, only buses can stop or park in this zone
  • no stopping, means just that DO NOT STOP
  • no parking
  • obstructing traffic, quite often parents stop in the middle of the street to drop off the child this is an obstruction and is UNSAFE

Untarped Loads: Ensure that all loads regardless of the contents are either tarped or secured as to avoid debris from falling from the vehicle.

Skateboarding: Skateboarding is not permitted on City streets, public places, or other posted areas or properties that prohibit skateboarding. Those found in violation can be charged and/or have their skateboard seized by police.
